Assistant Dispatcher - Tacoma, WA
Privately owned and operated since 1974, we are the specialists in oversized hauling in the Puget Sound area. We are looking to hire an experienced and dedicated Assistant Dispatcher. In this Full-time support position, you will provide all backup dispatch support. You will work with dispatcher to ensure the effective scheduling and dispatching of drivers for the on-time arrival and delivery of construction supplies, and equipment to and from manufacturers and customer work sites. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Answers calls quickly and efficiently to manage customer calls to gather information and provide quotes. • Works with dispatcher to update weekly schedule; coordinating customer requests and load requirements. • Ensures all paperwork is accurate and complete. • Obtain permits and become familiar with requirements in all states, counties and cities of operation. • Prepare dispatch orders according to company standards, driver capabilities and truck requirements. • Generates Bill of Lading based on scheduled dispatch orders. • Clerical duties, as assigned, such as filing, generating orders, vacation scheduling, directions for drivers, etc. • Communicates with drivers as required to ensure understanding of the job specifics. • Utilizes ERoad GPS tracking program to verify hours worked, confirm location and updates of driver to customer; track over speed events and emergency stops. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • High school education or equivalent combination or education and experience; plus two + years’ experience in trucking or transportation industry • Knowledgeable of trucking industry, Heavy Haul and Oversized Hauling regulations • Understanding of heavy construction industry • Strong knowledge of state and federal DOT regulations for oversize loads • Proven track record working with drivers in a high-demand environment • Ability to work as a team and under direct supervision • Must be able to multi-task on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced, high stress environment • Strong organizational skills; clerical experience • Effective Problem-solving skills; remains open-minded and listens to others • Manage Time-sensitive tasks • Conflict management skills • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite • Must possess a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get it done no matter what it is Benefits: We offer 100% paid medical, dental and vision insurance for employees and dependents, plus paid company holidays and paid time off.
